Continued cooperation – Another visit of the Titian Team to NLCC

On November 6-8, the second visit of Titian engineers to the National Library of Chemical Compounds (NLCC) took place. During the visit, the Titian programmers, who had not previously had the opportunity, became familiar with the NLCC infrastructure. The aim of the meetings is to exchange knowledge between practitioners using the Mosaic software developed by Titian and programmers about its capabilities and applications for managing libraries (banks) of chemical compounds.

During the three-day workshop, the IT infrastructure was discussed and tested at all stages starting from accepting chemical compounds into NLCC, managing them and making  available for screening and other biological tests for external users. Regular testing and analysis of NLCC processes by engineers from Titian directly on site allows improvement of the software, as well as to expand the knowledge of NLCC technical staff on the prevention and solving the technical faults.

The meeting was also an opportunity for Titian technicians to familiarize themselves on-site with the use of Mosaic software and related to it problems, which will undoubtedly contribute to the development of new, improved versions, as well as to the constant improvement of the quality of working contacts between the software provider and users.

As a summary of the workshop, Titian prepared a set of recommendations tailored to the needs of NLCC, which were implemented to improve the processes of depositing, managing and sharing compounds and preventing technical failures. The use of another function for maintaining a database of compounds, which belongs to the wide range of options available in the Mosaic software, was also implemented. Each change is introduced with a view to making the process of transferring compounds and ordering solutions for testing more efficient and more user-friendly for the Provider and User.

The cooperation between NLCC and Titian is an example of the benefits of close contacts between users and software developers. The positive effects of the meetings resulted in plans to continue them in the near future.
